Brian Karem Says Why He Lashed Out at Sarah Sanders

Brian Karem, the executive editor of The Sentinel newspapers and a contributor to Playboy, went viral on Tuesday for a heated confrontation with White House Deputy Press Secretary Sarah Huckabee Sanders during the day’s press briefing.

Wednesday morning, he took something of a victory lap on cable news — first stopping by Morning Joe, and then participating in a panel on New Day. In the latter appearance, he discussed why he lashed out at Sanders.

“I don’t like bullies,” Karem said. “I’ve been tired of being bullied. I’ve been tired of being blamed. I’ve been called an enemy of the people. I’ve been told we’re all fake media.”

Karem was referring to Huckabee Sanders railing against CNN following their retracted report connecting an adviser of President Donald Trump to the Russia probe.

The Playboy contributor does not believe that the Huckabee Sanders rant was an isolated incident, but rather, part of a larger pattern of vilifying the media.

At the end of the day, I’ve been browbeaten for six months and told I’m the enemy. And to be quite honest, it’s not accurate, and I think it’s driving a wedge between us and the public. I think it’s undermining the fourth estate. I think it’s very detrimental to the Constitution and the foundation of the republic. And those people in that room are merely trying, as I said to Sarah, trying to do their job. And to be browbeaten everyday and bullied isn’t right and it’s got to stop.
